How I Lost 35 Pounds - One Small Step at a Time
When I first started my weight loss journey, I was overwhelmed. I wanted results fast. I wanted to feel better in my skin. But most of all, I wanted to believe lasting change was possible.
Today, I’m 35 pounds lighter.
But more importantly, I’m stronger, healthier, and living a lifestyle I genuinely enjoy.
Let me be honest, though, this wasn’t an overnight transformation.
There was no magic pill. No trendy diet. Just a lot of trial and error, small wins, setbacks, and lessons that reshaped more than just my body, they reshaped my entire life.
The Power of Small Steps
The biggest lesson I’ve learned?
Real change happens one small step at a time.
I didn’t flip a switch and suddenly become a “healthy” person. It started with tiny choices that built momentum.
First, I tackled soda
I used to drink four cans a day. I cut down to two. Then I swapped them for Zevia, then flavored sparkling water, and finally, I transitioned to plain water. It didn’t happen in a week , but it did happen.
Then I looked at what I was eating
White bread turned into whole wheat. Eventually, I moved on to seeded whole grain. Little by little, I started fueling my body with better options. Not out of forcing myself, but because I liked how I felt.
Next came movement
At the beginning, I didn’t work out at all. So I started small: 30-minute workouts each morning. Nothing fancy, just showing up for myself daily.
I added Shakeology to help with nutrition. I started lifting light weights, just 2 pounds at first. Over time, I built up my strength. Now, I lift 20 to 25 pounds with confidence.
What I Learned Along the Way
Every small change taught me something. Every habit I built gave me a little more confidence.
The journey wasn’t linear. There were weeks I felt like I’d made no progress. There were days when motivation was nowhere to be found. And there were plenty of moments I thought about quitting.
But I didn’t.
Instead, I reminded myself why I started. Not to chase a number on the scale, but to feel better in my own skin. Stronger. Healthier. Happier.
Over time, those small steps turned into habits. Those habits became a lifestyle. And that lifestyle became something I never want to give up.
Just Begin
If you’re at the start of your journey, feeling unsure or overwhelmed, I get it.
It’s scary to start. It’s hard to be consistent when results feel slow. But starting is where the magic begins.
Because the hardest part? Is just beginning.
And you don’t have to do it perfectly — you just have to do it.
You Deserve to Feel Good
You deserve to wake up with energy.
To feel confident in your body.
To build a life that feels aligned and joyful. Not restrictive or exhausting.
It won’t happen all at once. But with consistency, patience, and self-compassion, you will get there.
So if you’ve been waiting for a sign…this is it.
Take that first step.
Drink that glass of water.
Go for that walk.
Swap one thing on your plate.
And then? Keep going.
Because you’re capable of more than you think and you’re absolutely worth the effort.
