A little About Me

I’m a 46 year old mom to three incredibly inspiring children, residing in Minnesota.

Currently, I’m working as a server at Texas Roadhouse, the best part of my job is meeting new people and working along side my oldest son.

I’m a lover of sweaty workouts, long walks, coffee, I’m always up for a good challenge and I’m extremely organized. I strive to do my best, even when it comes down to the simplest things.

I have always had grand aspirations. I always told myself that a person is successful in life if they love what they are doing. Being successful has a lot to do with effort, and being willing to do so is a huge competitive advantage, because most people don’t.

Like many foolhardy ideas, I decided to start a blog. I write, but I’m not a writer, always improving on skills. This blog is an outlet for creativity and allows me to combine my love of healthy living and fitness with my on going love of sewing.

FITNESS

My Journey To Here…

"Being content and at peace with your body is a beautiful thing"

Today, I’m 40 pounds lighter than I was when I started my weight loss journey.

My story is not one of overnight success.

My results were not from a magical pill or a fad diet. My journey has been more like a roller coaster ride of trials, errors and milestones along the way, eventually leading to more than I ever expected gain.

For me, the key to success of losing 40 pounds, was one small change at a time.

Going from drinking four cans of soda a day. Then down to two, then to Zevia, flavored sparkling water, and finally plain water.

Going from white bread. Then to wheat, finally to seeded whole grain.

Going from no workouts. Then working out thirty minutes (Beachbody workouts) every morning. Drinking a nutrient dense shake daily (Shakeology).

Going from no weights when working out. Then to 2 pounds, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, and finally to 20 and 25 pounds.

These are a few of many examples of one small change that worked in my life.

Just Begin Is a post on where I began.

Every change I learned something that carried me to create and live a healthy lifestyle I genuinely love living.

I love encouraging others, helping them dream again, showing them how to create a life and a body they love.

SEWING

My Journey To Here…

I am a self taught sewer, I learned to sew back in 2013

I owe everything I know about sewing to the countless inspirational YouTube videos and to the amazing work of independent pattern designers who want to teach us how to sew.

My first pattern was a pillowcase dress, I bought off Etsy. I then went on sewing many items of clothing, I made doll clothes, I did a bit of embroidery. I even taught myself to knit and crochet.

Check out my work here Sewing Gallery

My newest love is creating solo costumes for dance.

I started back in 2020, when my daughter did her first solo.

I decided to have a custom base piece made, from a local shop in town. I paid 80 dollars for the piece, it was awful. The fit was off, design was horrible and the stitching was a mess.

So, I started the journey of sewing with spandex.

I discovered sewing spandex is nothing like sewing cotton or knit.

I ventured out to the web and soon found how little amount of info there is out there on costume making.

I knew I could do it, but what I lacked was knowledge to get there. I had all these questions yet no one to give me any answers to my questions. So I decided to start this blog, to share my personal sewing experiences that could help other aspiring individuals like myself who sought the knowledge and confidence to start a new adventure.

Maybe I love to teach, because I Love to learn.
